“The Lord is trustworthy in all He does. The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” – Psalm 145:13,14
Four years ago today, our baby niece was born; she was still born. I still remember the cries and weeping that day. They were not the cries of a newborn, but of those left with empty arms. My husband and I were honored to be able to hold her and say good-bye. It still amazed me how warm she was, as if she was merely sleeping. St Paul says we will not all “sleep”, but we will all be changed; in the twinkling of an eye.
Our greatest hope is that we will all be changed. We have hope will all see God. We have hope we will all be reunited with loved ones. But it is only those who have trusted in God and who follow God with all of their hearts that will see Him. Jesus said, “There is no way to the Father, but through Me”. It is hard for us to accept this today in our multi-cultural, multi-religious society. But no one but Jesus has ever been willing to back up His teaching by dying the way He did. And no one but Jesus has been able to back up His teaching by rising from the dead.
So my hope is in Jesus, the Author and Finisher of my faith. I am trusting Him that I will see Him one day face to face. I will see God. And I will be reunited with my loved ones, even our baby niece. My hope is not in vain. And Faith is being sure of what we hope for, certain of what we do not see.
Keep fighting the good fight of faith!
Happy birthday, Claire!
