“So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body…And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.” ~ 1 Corinthians 15:42 – 44, 49
The Body that is sown is perishable…Paul tells us that it is not the “body” that is sown, but the seed. And he is even more explicit when he uses the term “naked seed”. So we are here, in the human flesh, as unclothed spiritual beings. We are first and foremost spiritual, but we are naked. We are waiting to be clothed with our true spiritual bodies.
Our current bodies have been sown “perishable”. The word is to mean “corrupted”, but it also means to be “aborted”. We were prematurely aborted from the Garden of Eden when sin entered into this world. But God has chosen to resurrect us! And we will be raised with imperishable bodies that will “never see decay”. We will be raised with power and purpose and will take our place on the throne with God. And we will see heaven because heaven is for real!
