Jesus said, “yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth”. John 4:23-24
Worship. Do we really understand what we do when we worship? We gathering together on Sundays and we worship God.
As Christians, we know WHO we worship ~ God; the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Some of us even know WHY we worship ~ He is worthy of all praise because He is holy.
But I wonder how many know WHAT we do…what exactly does it mean to worship God? Many fidget and fuss and are trying to figure this worship thing out. Maybe so many stay home because they are not sure what they are supposed to do when they get there.
And do we really need to go to a certain place to worship? As we examine the scriptures, I believe we will see the answer to the last question is yes and no. Jesus tells us we are no longer confined to the place in Jerusalem. We can worship God in spirit and truth. But we will also discover that we are called to gather together and worship. When we gather together, it is a sign; a distinguishing mark, and we bear witness to our faith in Jesus Christ.
So, on Sunday, we will gather together…to worship in song…and to hear the scriptures…and to discover together what it means to worship God. Come gather with us!
